Brendan Rodgers has been relieved of his duties at Liverpool. His sack was announced by the Fenway Sports Group, owners of Liverpool, shortly after they were held to a 1-1 by Everton in the Merseyside derby.
Rodgers has been under pressure in recent weeks after Liverpool's poor start to the season. Liverpool have only won 3 of their 8 premier league games this season.
In a statement released by the FSG, they said: "Ambition and winning are at the heart of what we want to bring to Liverpool and we believe this change gives us the best opportunity to deliver it".
"The search for a new manager is under way and we hope to make an appointment in a decisive and timely manner".
Rodgers was in charge for 165 games. He won 63 of those, drew 40 and lost 42. Meaning he had a win percentage of 51.6%, inferior only to Rafa Benitez's record of 56.3%.
After the draw with Everton had gone on record to say that he wasn't feeling any pressure and that he had the backing and understanding of the owners.
