Manchester City suffered their third loss in 4 matches as they were hammered 4-1 by Tottenham Hotspurs at White Hart Lane in the premier league early kick off.
City started brightly by going ahead in the 25th minute through new signing, Kevin De Bruyne, who finished an excellent counter attacking move after Yaya Toure put him through on goal. It was his 3rd in 3 starts for City. De Bruyne though, seemed marginally offside when fed with the pass by Toure. The goal would eventually set the tone for other controversial goals scored that would go the way of Spurs.
Kyle Walker who was the culprit for giving the ball away that led to City's goal, turned provider for Spurs equaliser albeit from an offside position which Eric Dier did not waste in the 45th minute.
Toby Alderweireld turned the tables for Spurs after nodding home Eriksen's excellent free kick 5 minutes after the re-start.
It grew worse for City in the 61st minute as Harry Kane made it 3-1 for the hosts. It was Harry Kane's first club goal this season after going on a 6 game goal drought. The goal however, should not have stood as he was offside when Lamela played in the free kick.
Erik Lamela made the game safe on 79 minutes after taking advantage of more shambolic defending in City defence.
The result moves Spurs to 5th position temporarily while any sort of victory for Manchester United will see them leap frog City.
